Durability Consulting

Designing for durability in the Middle East requires more than standard assumptions. It requires accurate data, realistic modelling, and strategies tailored to aggressive exposure conditions. Structures are often expected to perform for decades, yet deterioration can begin much earlier without the right design and mitigation approach.

Making informed decisions starts with understanding what is actually happening within the structure.

We provide durability consulting services that help owners and engineers understand how and why deterioration occurs, and what to do about it. Through targeted investigation, testing, and modelling, we identify active corrosion mechanisms, quantify risk, and define practical strategies to extend service life.

Our focus is simple. Understand the problem, predict its progression, and implement the right solution at the right time.

Methods

Infrastructure Rehabilitation Options

We design corrosion mitigation strategies based on the structure’s actual condition and required service life.

Options include concrete repair, coatings and sealers, electrochemical treatments, and cathodic protection. Each approach is evaluated for performance, constructability, and lifecycle cost.

We work with owners and design teams to select solutions that meet service life requirements and avoid repeated repair cycles.

Service Life Modelling

Service life models are developed using field investigation data and material properties.

They provide a forward-looking assessment of corrosion progression and timing of intervention, enabling more informed planning and targeted rehabilitation.

Thermal Analysis of Concrete

We provide thermal modelling and cooling design for mass concrete placements.

This analysis uses concrete mix properties, material characteristics, and expected site conditions to predict how heat will develop within the concrete after placement, including temperature differences between the core and surface. If these effects are not controlled, thermal stresses can cause early-age cracking, creating pathways for moisture and chlorides that accelerate deterioration.

Vector Corrosion will provide a placement and curing plan that defines temperature limits, cooling strategies, and construction controls required to minimise thermal cracking and support long-term durability.
